The Dungeons & Dragons roleplaying game inspired this series of nine art quilts. It was the use of a spectrum of moral and ethical perspectives for character development that caught my attention. And then how to represent them visually. There are two basic choices: the character’s view on law versus chaos and good versus evil. Both options also have a middle-ground of neutral. Plot these choices on a grid, and there are nine possibilities for your character’s “alignment.” Thinking about what “lawful” or “chaos” might look like was challenging and great fun.
D&D Alignment Quilts, 31″ x 31″ framed, $900 each. Please contact me for more information.

Elvis is in the house!
Elvis is in the house! A woman I met through etsy is having an auction fundraiser on behalf of Tara’s House Animal Rescue, an animal rescue organization in the Washington DC/Baltimore area. She asked if I might be able to donate an item to the auction … I immediately thought of Elvis. Elvis is an […]

play it cool, boy*
It’s officially summer! And while the weather has been exceedingly pleasant this week, I know the heat is coming. And when it does get hot, stop by and visit me at the Sign of the Dove in the air conditioned comfort of the Chestnut Hill Mall. It’s the perfect place to shop for summertime gifts. […]

FABric!
Stop by the NewTV gallery tonight and enjoy their latest exhibit: FABric! Every image is constructed of fabric and fiber, or with fiber as the subject. This show was organized by Newton Open Studios and features Newton artists … including me! Here’s a preview of the exhibit. My work is usually in the form of […]

thank you
Thank you. Two words that you can never use enough. And since it’s Memorial Day, I thought a little “thank you” to those in the armed services would be appropriate. As I have gotten to know the quilting community, I have been impressed with their incredible willingness to donate their time and work. Whenever there […]

spring has sprung?
An inch of snow on the ground and nighttime temps below freezing aren’t exactly the Heralds of Spring, but in some corners it is beginning to look like springtime. At least indoors. I belong to a local artist’s co-op and spring colors are in full display this week. New vases and planters for spring flowers, […]

sewing tip of the day
Who knew? Sharp needles are good. Okay, just about everyone who sews knows that sharp needles are good. But I have just recently come to this revelation. After years of being too cheap to change my sewing machine needle regularly, I’ve found it’s one of those things that really does make a difference in the […]

I put a bird on it …
I took a leap this summer and submitted my work to become a member of the Sign of the Dove Gallery in the Chestnut Hill Mall. And they accepted me! Woot! Sign of the Dove is a 40 year old New England cooperative composed of over 50 artists and craftspeople who make pottery, blown, stained […]
